This workshop combines theory and practical ideas for working with children and youth who are grieving from any type of loss. The morning will focus on grief and loss and some creative ideas for working with children/youth that are experiencing loss. The afternoon will focus on how we inspire hope in children and youth who have been through difficult life experiences and engage them in their future.


Rhonda Kent, MA Counselling, MSW, Registered Provisional Psychologist

Rhonda has over 16 years experience working in the areas of domestic violence, suicide and grief and loss. Rhonda is trained in EMDR and trauma work with children. She has worked extensively with children, teens and adults experiencing grief and loss and was instrumental in implementing a counselling program for children bereaved by parental suicide. Close to her heart has been counselling children and teens who are struggling with suicidal issues. Rhonda presented a one day workshop in Red Deer on Grief and Loss in Children for APTA in 2004 and has facilitated one day workshops privately called “Parenting Your Teen in Trying Times.” Rhonda presented at the ACSW  conference on Inspiring Hope in 2007 and was also part of a team who presented a 5 day Domestic Violence Conference in Varazdin, Croatia.
